Adobe PS tutorials: Serrated polygon

It's just boring always to use perfect round bullets on avatars or layout designs. Therefore I think it's now time to teach you how to use the polygon-tool which makes your designs more interesting.

• Create a new document in Adobe Photoshop and add a new layer (Shift+Ctrg+n).
• Choose the polygon tool, which is located behind the Rectangle tool at your tool box.
• Have a closer look at the top-bar and change these settings:
  General options: Fill pixels
  Polygon options: Star selection, Indent sides* by 10% and 40 sides**
  indent sides defines the spikes' sharpness; sides is the number of spikes (higher number means more spikes)
  

Pretty easy, isn't it? Just play around with the settings and gain some experience. You'll see it's just as easy as it is effective.
